In a time when feminine energy is on the rise and we’re taking back our sexy, it’s so important to learn our bodies and learn exactly how to keep these things in tip top shape for some healthy lovin’. For me, good health always starts from the inside out, so what we eat is more important than anything else! As my granny says, "You can’t keep Sally sweet by drinking processed pineapple juice 10 minutes before sexy time." Your body doesn’t work like that! It’s OK, I’m here to help. Here are 5 foods that increase libido and keep your lady parts ready for the get down.

  1. Cranberry Juice

I’m not talking Ocean Spray. I’m talking raw, unsweetened cranberry juice. Yes, it’s bitter, but the health benefits are beyond worth it. Cranberries are good for reproductive health as well as de-bloating, and not being bloated is automatically a mood boaster. Say bye-bye to UTIs and bloating just by drinking 8 ounces of cranberry juice a day. If it’s too strong at first, mix it with a splash of pineapple juice and slowly cut back as you grow accustomed to the taste. Swap this in the morning for your coffee, the lactic acid in your dairy creamer and oxygen-destroying elements can demolish your libido, and that strong cranberry taste will surely wake you up!

  1. Ginger

Aside from being the holy grail of natural remedies, ginger is also an excellent libido enhancer. It’s another spicy taste that not everyone can get with, but it mixes so great there’s no excuse for not having it in your diet. My favorite combination is making a lemon-ginger-echinacea tea, especially during the winter because of its strong defense to colds and the flu. If you can handle it, a ginger shot a day will keep you feeling extra juicy and lovey no matter the weather.

  1. Spinach

Spinach is one of my favorite green veggies and, luckily, it’s full of healthy benefits! It's rich in magnesium, a mineral that decreases inflammation in blood vessels (thus increasing blood flow below the belt). It’s basically nature’s Viagra. Women who consume more spinach find that it’s much easier to be lubricated and to reach the big O, not to mention it’s appetite-suppressing compounds. If you’re not big on salads, throw it in the blender with some black raspberries (another great libido enhancer), pineapple juice, and mango. You’ve got yourself a tropical smoothie that’ll cool you down before things heat up.

  1. Green Tea

All the herbalists and tea mamas already know about the dopeness that is green tea, but for those of us who don’t, you need green tea in your life. The fitness folks will tell you that it can help you lose weight (which is true!), but the same compound that allows it to do that, catechins, also promotes blood flow to your body party. Catechins speed up your liver’s capacity for turning fat into energy and you need that energy for your daily life as well as your night life.
